What We Provide To Schools

Everything an educational facility needs to identify environmental hazards, stay compliant with federal and state requirements, and document that compliance.

AHERA Inspections

Initial asbestos building inspections performed by EPA-accredited inspectors, forming the basis of your Asbestos Management Plan.

Three-Year AHERA Reinspections

The comprehensive reinspection AHERA requires every three years, with updated material assessments and Management Plan revisions.

Six-Month Surveillance

Periodic surveillance of known and suspected asbestos-containing materials, documenting any change in condition.

Asbestos Management Plans

Preparation and maintenance of the plan AHERA requires each school to keep on site and make available for public review.

School Asbestos Consulting

Ongoing guidance on O&M programs, response actions, staff training documentation, and annual notifications.

Renovation & Demolition Surveys

Pre-project asbestos surveys so maintenance, renovation, and demolition work proceeds without disturbing ACM unknowingly.

Lead-Based Paint Inspections

XRF testing, paint chip sampling, and lead hazard assessments for school buildings constructed before 1978.

Mold Inspections & Moisture Assessments

Moisture mapping, microbial evaluations, and remediation scoping after roof leaks, plumbing failures, or HVAC condensation.

Indoor Air Quality Services

Indoor environmental assessments and air monitoring to support healthy classrooms and respond to occupant complaints.

Environmental Compliance Consulting

Help interpreting EPA, OSHA, and state requirements — and documenting compliance ahead of audits and inspections.

The AHERA Cycle

Compliance Is Ongoing, Not One-And-Done

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act sets a recurring schedule. Missing a milestone is one of the most common findings during a compliance audit.

  1. Once

    Initial Inspection

Every school building is inspected for asbestos-containing materials by an EPA-accredited Asbestos Building Inspector.

  2. Ongoing

    Management Plan

Findings become the Asbestos Management Plan, kept at the school and available for public review on request.

  3. Every 6 months

    Surveillance

Known and suspected ACM is visually surveilled to document any change in condition.

  4. Every 3 years

    Reinspection

A full reinspection re-evaluates all known ACM and updates the Management Plan as necessary.

  5. Annually

    Notification

Parents, teachers, and employees are notified of the availability of the Management Plan.

AHERA does not require that all asbestos be removed. Materials in good condition that will not be disturbed can often be managed in place through an Operations & Maintenance program. Read the full explanation.
